New England Match Longest Winning Streak Since Brady Years with Win Over New York Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five touchdowns in the present year
New England matched their top unbeaten stretch since the Brady period as they overcame division rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie Henderson led the way with three scores as the Patriots claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph bolsters the New England's advantage at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to conclude the New York's first possession
But the Patriots fought back in the second period as the rookie ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone halfway into the third period to make it 21-7
"It was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," Maye commented on the rookie. "He wants to be outstanding."
Fields found John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the victory
